Almost in unknown territory for a club of Madden’s size to compete against the so called big boys at this level, our boys started nervously, and were under the cosh right from the beginning as Killeavy took a 4-0 lead. This seemed to demoralise their opponents, but it buoyed on the Madden youngsters. Depleted due to recent injuries and without a host of regulars on their holidays, Madden were still able to remain competitive thanks to precision, tenacious tackling and an overzealous will to win.
