A fitting tribute to the spirit of courage and determination of a group of African American fighter pilots fighting a war for freedom, while suffering through indignation and segregation at home. The first Civilian Pilot Training Program students completed their instruction in May 1940. Now you step into the hanger and there is an incredible array of pictures, panels, displays, and multiple small videos about these history making men, who just wanted to do what was right, and in the process made history and ignited a wonderful movement in all of America. Such a great place to visit. The offices are very cool because they make you feel like you've traveled in time. The model aircraft were really cool, but I liked the offices set up the way they had been back in the 40s, and especially the war room where the pilots would learn things like how to identify different countries' military uniforms, languages, planes, etc. Base was falling down & they rebuilt it.
